About Chlumetia transversa (Walker, 1863)

Chlumetia transversa (Walker, 1863) has an adult wingspan of 1.5 centimeters. Its forewings are shining gray, while its hindwings are light gray. The submarginal band on the forewing is broken, and the reniform marking is open anteriorly. Dark grayish subbasal shading is visible on the forewings. In males, the genitalia valves are slender and curved upwards, and the short uncus is broad and polygonal. The caterpillar has a dull violaceous dorsum, greenish ventrum, and a brownish head that turns testaceous in late instars. The caterpillar’s spiracles are narrow, and its legs and prolegs are short. The final instar caterpillar is dark pink. This species is well distributed across Indo‑Australian tropical countries and islands, including India, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, China, Korea, Indonesia, Malaysia, Thailand, the Andaman Islands, the Nicobar Islands, and the Solomon Islands.
