Chionodes praeclarella is a moth in the family Gelechiidae. This species is present across most of North America. In Europe, its range is restricted to Austria, Switzerland, and Italy. The adult wingspan is 18–20 mm. The forewings are light brown, with a strong purplish sheen that is most noticeable toward the apex. The outer edge of the cell and the apical veins are marked by ill-defined, purplish-black longitudinal lines that are more or less confluent near the apex. The hindwings are light fuscous. The larvae of this moth have been recorded feeding on species in the Polygonaceae family.
