The leaf tips are acute to obtuse and usually mucronate. The leaves are yellowish - to brownish - green, farinose on the underside when young, and have tubular hairs in the leaf axils. The leaf margin is entire with membranous borders. The inflorescences are branched, with ebracteate, dense, spike - like branches. The inflorescence axes are densely covered with tubular hairs, and the glomerules are small. The plant has 5 tepals that are keeled and have vesicular hairs on the margin. The seed is horizontal, orbicular in outline, about 1 mm in size. It probably does not set seed in Norden. The chromosome number is 2n = 18.
