About Chelidonura varians Eliot, 1903
Chelidonura varians Eliot, 1903 reaches a maximum size of 70 mm. Its body background is deep black, and the margins of its parapods and entire body are edged with a thin bright electric blue line. Like other species in the genus Chelidonura, it has two distinct fairly long tails at the posterior end of its body, and the left tail is always longer. It has well-developed sensory cilia on the front edge of its head, which it uses to locate prey. This species inhabits reef areas in shallow water lagoons with sandy or muddy bottoms, and can be found at depths down to 30 meters. This cephalaspidean gastropod is widely distributed across the tropical waters of the Indo-west Pacific region.
