About Cheilosia corydon (Harris, 1780)

Cheilosia corydon was first described by Harris in 1780. For terminology used in this description, refer to Morphology of Diptera. Wing length ranges from 8.5 to 11.75 mm. It differs from Cheilosia chrysocoma by the following characters: the third segment of the antennae is brown to black, its pubescence is foxy-tawny, and all segments of the tarsi are black. This species is distributed across most of the Palearctic region and western North America.
