About Cheilinus trilobatus Lacepède, 1801
Cheilinus trilobatus Lacepède, 1801 has a moderately deep body and a tri-lobed tail. Its body ranges in color from green to brown, with mottled purple and red markings, and has 4 vertical dark stripes. Its head bears red spots, and red lines radiate out from its eye. This species lives in lagoons and seaward reefs, found at depths between 1 and 30 metres (3 ft 3 in to 98 ft 5 in).
