About Chauliodes pectinicornis (Linnaeus, 1763)
Chauliodes pectinicornis (Linnaeus, 1763), commonly called the Summer fishfly, is a species of fishfly native to North America. This species has a wide distribution across eastern Canada and the eastern United States. Its range extends from Maine in the northeastern portion of the region, south to Alachua, Liberty, and Santa Rosa counties in Florida in the southeast, and reaches as far west as Kansas. Chauliodes pectinicornis forms a commensal relationship with Plecopteracoluthus downesi larvae. These larvae complete their entire life cycle, including pupation, on the mesothorax of the Summer fishfly.
