Channa asiatica, commonly called the small snakehead, is a species of snakehead fish. It is one of four Channa genus species that are native to China. It can also be found in Taiwan and southern Japan, where it either migrated naturally or was introduced. It is a medium-sized snakehead that builds nests for its eggs, unlike the mouthbrooding dwarf snakeheads from India.
