Chamaemespilus alpina (Mill.) K.R.Robertson & J.B.Phipps is a deciduous shrub that reaches 2โ€“3 meters in height. Its leaves are arranged in a spiral pattern, shaped oval-elliptic, and measure 3โ€“7 cm long. Each leaf has an acute apex and a serrated margin, and is green on both sides, lacking the white felting present on most whitebeams. The flowers of this species are pink, with five forward-pointing petals that are 5โ€“7 mm long. Flowers are borne in corymbs that have a diameter of 3โ€“4 cm. The fruit is an oval red pome with a diameter of 10โ€“13 mm.
