The Senegal chameleon, scientifically named Chamaeleo senegalensis, is a chameleon species native to West Africa. Its natural range covers Senegal, Mali, Nigeria, and Cameroon, and it inhabits moist savanna environments. Because it has a wide distribution and its total population size is unknown, the Senegal chameleon is categorized as Least Concern on the IUCN Red List. Even so, the species may face threats from the pet trade. Most Senegal chameleons are olive brown in color, and they grow to an overall length between 20 and 30 cm. Males are typically smaller than females.
