Chalybion bengalense (Dahlbom, 1845) individuals are metallic blue, with semi-transparent brownish wings and small white hairs. Females of this species measure between 13 and 17 mm (0.51 to 0.67 inches) in length, while males range from 8.5 to 15 mm (0.33 to 0.59 inches) in length. This species is native to the Indomalayan realm, Australia, and New Guinea, and has been introduced to East Africa, Italy, and Greece.
