About Chaliniastis astrapaea Meyrick, 1904
Chaliniastis is a genus of moths that belongs to the family Gelechiidae. This genus contains only one species: Chaliniastis astrapaea Meyrick, 1904. This species is native to Australia, and has been recorded in the regions of Queensland and New South Wales. The wingspan of an adult Chaliniastis astrapaea measures approximately 14 mm (0.55 in). Its forewings are a bronzy-fuscous shade, and are darker across the posterior half. An irregular, undefined whitish streak runs along the dorsum from the base to the tornus. A suffused dark fuscous blotch borders the upper edge of this streak, extending from one-fourth to three-fourths of the forewing length. A moderate triangular white spot sits on the costa at the four-fifths position of the forewing. A fine, slightly curved white line runs from this spot to the tornus. An obscure whitish-ochreous suffusion is present on the lower half of the wing beyond this line. The hindwings are pale fuscous, and darken toward the posterior end.
