About Chalcosyrphus curvaria (Curran, 1941)

Chalcosyrphus (Xylotomima) curvaria, commonly called the yellow-haltered leafwalker, is a common species of syrphid fly. Hoverflies, the group this species belongs to, can stay nearly motionless while in flight. Adult individuals of this species are also known as flower flies, because they are commonly found on flowers. They obtain energy-giving nectar and protein-rich pollen from these flowers. This species is distributed across Northern North America, found in both Canada and the United States.
