About Chalcides viridanus (Gravenhorst, 1851)
Chalcides viridanus (first described by Gravenhorst in 1851) can reach a total length of around 18 cm (7.1 inches) when fully grown, including the tail. Its natural habitats include temperate forest, temperate shrubland, subtropical or tropical dry shrubland, Mediterranean-type shrubby vegetation, temperate grassland, rocky areas, rocky shores, sandy shores, arable land, pastureland, rural gardens, and urban areas. This species occurs at altitudes as high as 2,000 m (6,600 ft). It is native to the Canary Islands, where it can be found on Tenerife, El Hierro, Roque de Garachico, and Roques de Anaga. Chalcides viridanus reproduces through viviparity.
