Chaetodipterus zonatus, commonly called the Pacific spadefish, is a fish species belonging to the family Ephippidae. This species is native to the eastern Pacific Ocean, with a range that extends from San Diego, California down to Peru, including the Galápagos Islands, where it is referred to by the local name Chambo. Pacific spadefish inhabit subtropical inshore marine waters at depths between 3 and 50 meters, in areas with coral reefs or sandy seabeds. They are occasionally sighted in estuaries, mangroves, and lagoons. They typically form small schools and feed on benthic invertebrates.
