The genus Cespedesia is a group of flowering plants in the Ochnaceae family, which contains only one species: Cespedesia spathulata (Ruiz & Pav.) Planch. This species has the common name Membrillo de Montana. It is native to Central and Southern Tropical America. At the top of its trunk and any vertical reiterations, it holds a rosette of spatulate leaves. Each leaf reaches 1 m (3 ft 3 in) in length, and the leaves are held in a near-vertical posture.
