About Cerrophidion godmani (Günther, 1863)
Cerrophidion godmani is a terrestrial viper species with a moderately stout body. Adult individuals of this species typically reach a total length (including the tail) of less than 55 cm (21.5 in), though some may grow to over 75 cm (30 in). It has a short, non-prehensile tail, and its dorsal scales are arranged in 21 rows at midbody. This species is distributed in Mexico, specifically in the states of Chiapas and southeastern Oaxaca, as well as in Guatemala. All populations located south of Guatemala are now classified as a separate species, Cerrophidion sasai. The type locality for Cerrophidion godmani, as documented by Günther in 1863, is "near Dueñas and on other parts of the tableland of Guatemala". Its preferred natural habitats are forest and grassland, found at altitudes ranging from 1,400 m to 3,491 m (4,593 ft to 11,453 ft). Cerrophidion godmani reproduces via ovoviviparity.
