About Cerodontha ircos (Goureau, 1851)

Cerodontha ircos is a species of fly that belongs to the family Agromyzidae. The larvae of this species form leaf mines on plants that are part of the genus Iris. To start the life cycle, several eggs are deposited inside the host leaf. After hatching, the larvae develop long corridor mines, which eventually merge together, creating the appearance of a single large blotch mine. Pupation of this species takes place inside the mine.
