About Cerion uva (Linnaeus, 1758)

Description: The shells of Cerion uva can reach a length of 24 millimeters. This species exhibits extensive geographical variation in whorl size. The shape of its shell changes significantly as the snail grows. Adult individuals have beehive-shaped shells with an expanded labrum. Distribution: This species is endemic to the islands of Aruba, Curaçao, and Bonaire. Many of its populations differ considerably in morphology, and form the diverse composition of the species’ infraspecific taxa.
