About Cerinthe major L.

Cerinthe major L., commonly called honeywort along with other species in the genus Cerinthe, is an annual flowering plant. It is native to the Mediterranean region, which includes southern Europe, western Asia and northern Africa, and has been introduced to New Zealand. A range of cultivars are available to gardeners, spanning from Cerinthe major subsp. major, which has sea-green bracts and yellow flowers, to Cerinthe major subsp. purpurascens, which has blue bracts and purple flowers.
