Cercophonius squama is a southern Australian scorpion, the only scorpion found in Tasmania, with distinct patterned body and leg coloration.

About Cercophonius squama (Gervais, 1843)

This species has a body color ranging from creamy yellow to orange-brown, marked with dark brown variegated patterns. Its legs are yellow, with scattered areas of dark brown pigment. Cercophonius squama is distributed across South Australia, Victoria, New South Wales, the Australian Capital Territory, and Tasmania. It is the only scorpion species that occurs in Tasmania.
