Ceratosoma brevicaudatum Abraham, 1876 is a firm-bodied nudibranch species that reaches a maximum recorded length of 15 centimeters. Within the coastal waters of South Australia, dark-colored individuals are more common in the western region, while paler-colored individuals are more common in the eastern region. An orange color form is considered the typical form of this species in South Australia. This species is distributed from Houtman Abrolhos, Western Australia, across South Australia and Victoria to Cape Byron, New South Wales, and also occurs around Tasmania. Ecologically, Ceratosoma brevicaudatum feeds on sponges of the genus Euryspongia.
