About Ceratocarpus arenarius L.

The genus Ceratocarpus consists of flowering plants in the Amaranthaceae family. Only one species in this genus is currently accepted: Ceratocarpus arenarius L. This species has been recorded growing in Bulgaria, Romania, Crimea, Russia, Anatolia, the Caucasus, Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan, Central Asia, the Altai, western Siberia, Xinjiang in China, and Mongolia. It is a bushy herbaceous plant that reaches at most 30 cm in both height and width. It grows particularly well in degraded and trampled soils, and serves as valuable fodder for sheep, goats, and horses.
