About Cerastes gasperettii Leviton & Anderson, 1967

Cerastes gasperettii, described by Leviton & Anderson in 1967, has an average total length (including tail) of 30–60 cm (12–24 in), with a maximum recorded total length of 85 cm (33 in). Females of this species are typically larger than males. Its confirmed geographic range includes Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, and Yemen within the Arabian Peninsula. It also occurs in the Arava valley on the border between southern Israel and Jordan, and extends eastward through Jordan and Iraq to Khuzestan province in southwestern Iran. The species' type locality is Beda Azan (23°41'N., 53°28'E.), Abu Dhabi (Abū Zaby), United Arab Emirates. The preferred natural habitats of Cerastes gasperettii are desert and shrubland, found at altitudes up to 1,500 m (4,900 ft). This species reproduces via oviparity.
