Cepora nerissa (Fabricius, 1775), commonly called the common gull, is a small to medium-sized butterfly belonging to the Pieridae family, which is also known as the yellows and whites. This butterfly is native to Sri Lanka, India, China, Southeast Asia, and Indonesia. Its confirmed distribution range also includes the north-western Himalayas up to 4,000 feet (1,200 m), Nepal, Sikkim, Bhutan, Bengal, and central, western, and southern India, as well as Ceylon.
