About Cephrenes augiades (Felder, 1860)

Cephrenes augiades, commonly known as the orange palm dart, is a butterfly species belonging to the family Hesperiidae. Its distribution ranges from Indonesia to the Solomons. This species has an approximate wingspan of 40 mm. For the subspecies Cephrenes augiades sperthias, the larvae feed on palm species in the genera Archontophoenix, Livistona, and Phoenix. During the day, larvae hide in a shelter they create: they use silk to join their host plant's fronds, which naturally fold and bend across one another. Additional recorded food plants for this species are not fully listed here.
