About Centaurium tenuiflorum (Hoffmanns. & Link) Fritsch
Centaurium tenuiflorum, commonly known as slender centaury, is an annual herb species belonging to the family Gentianaceae. This plant has a self-supporting growth habit and produces simple, broad leaves. Mature individuals can reach a height of 17 cm. Its native range spans the Mediterranean basin, Western Asia extending through Transcaucasus, Iran, and the western Himalayas, plus Macaronesia, Great Britain, the Crimean Peninsula, Chad, and Socotra. This species was first formally described in 1813 by Johann Centurius Hoffmannsegg and Johann Heinrich Friedrich Link under the name Erythraea tenuiflora. In 1907, Karl Fritsch reclassified it into the genus Centaurium, giving it the current accepted name Centaurium tenuiflorum (Hoffmanns. & Link) Fritsch.
