About Cenchrus spinifex Cav.

Cenchrus spinifex Cav. is commonly known by the names common sandbur, coastal sandbur, stickerweed, and stickerbur. It is a perennial grass that reaches heights between 5 and 30 inches (13 to 76 cm), and grows in sandy or gravelly terrain. This species is native to the region stretching from the southern United States southward into Mexico and the Caribbean. It has been introduced to other parts of the United States, as well as to the Philippines and South Africa. It is classified as a noxious weed in Europe.
