About Cenchrus setaceus (Forssk.) Morrone

Cenchrus setaceus, commonly called crimson fountaingrass, is a C4 perennial bunch grass. It is native to open, scrubby habitats in East Africa, tropical Africa, the Middle East, and south-western Asia. It has been introduced to many regions around the world to be grown as an ornamental plant, and it has become an invasive species in some of these introduced areas. This species is drought-tolerant, grows quickly, reaches 3 feet in height, and produces many purple, plumose flower spikes.
