Cenchritis muricatus (Linnaeus, 1758) is a species of sea snail belonging to the family Littorinidae, which is the group commonly known as winkles or periwinkles. This species is commonly called the beaded periwinkle. Its known distribution includes the Caribbean Sea, the Gulf of Mexico, and the Lesser Antilles. This snail frequently crawls out of water and climbs vertical rocky cliffs to heights greater than 14 meters. In these elevated cliff areas, it hides in moist crevices to avoid desiccation and overheating.
