About Celtis philippensis Blanco
Celtis philippensis Blanco is an Asian flowering plant species that belongs to the Cannabaceae family. It is a tree that can reach a maximum height of 30 metres (98 ft). Its native distribution spans from India and Sri Lanka through southern China, Taiwan, the Philippines, New Guinea and the Solomon Islands, all the way to northern Australia. This species grows in tropical and subtropical forest habitats, including moist evergreen forests, monsoon forests, and littoral forests, at elevations ranging from sea level up to 1,400 metres (4,600 ft). In Australia, it serves as an important food source for the larvae of two butterfly species: the common aeroplane (Phaedyma shepherdi) and the tailed emperor (Polyura sempronius).
