About Cedrus brevifolia Holmboe

This conifer in the genus Cedrus is commonly called the Cyprus cedar. It is native to the Troödos Mountains of central Cyprus, where it grows in the Cedar Valley within Pafos State Forest. Different botanists classify this taxon differently: some treat it as a variety of Cedrus libani (cedar of Lebanon), formally named Cedrus libani var. brevifolia; other botanists recognize it as a separate species, Cedrus brevifolia Holmboe; and still others classify it as the subspecies Cedrus libani subsp. brevifolia.
