About Cebus malitiosus Elliot, 1909
The Santa Marta white-fronted capuchin, scientifically named Cebus malitiosus, is a gracile capuchin monkey species found in Colombia. Previously, it was classified either as a subspecies of Cebus albifrons, or as a synonym of the Colombian white-faced capuchin C. capucinus. In 2013, Mittermeier and Rylands elevated Cebus malitiosus to full species status, building on earlier work by Rylands, Hershkovitz, Cooper and Hernandez-Camacho. The International Union for Conservation of Nature accepts this current taxonomic classification. The range of the Santa Marta white-fronted capuchin is limited to forests located near the northwest base of the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta in northern Colombia. For male individuals of this species, head and body length measures approximately 45.7 cm (18.0 in), and tail length measures approximately 43.3 cm (17.0 in).
