This species is a low-lying evergreen shrub that grows as a bush or mat. It stays under 1 meter in height, but can reach a spreading width of around 8 meters. Its leaves are arranged oppositely along the stems, are generally under 2 centimeters long, firm in texture, hairless, and have toothed edges. Its inflorescence is a small cluster of flowers that range in color from blue to off-white. After flowering, it produces horned, wrinkled fruits that measure just under 1 centimeter long.
