About Cattleya cernua (Lindl.) Van den Berg

This is Cattleya cernua (Lindl.) Van den Berg. It usually produces 2 to 4 bright red-orange blooms, each measuring 1 inch to 1 1/4 inches (2.2 to 2.7 cm) across. It has monofoliate pseudobulbs with leaves approximately 1 inch long. In its natural habitat, it flowers in spring, but it can bloom year-round when grown in cultivation. It is generally a warm-growing orchid; in its natural environment, temperatures range from 50 to 110 degrees Fahrenheit. It can be found growing as an epiphyte, or occasionally as a lithophyte. Its chromosome count is 2n = 40. In cultivation, this species grows best when mounted, in warm and bright conditions.
