About Catoptria conchella (Denis & Schiffermüller), 1775

Catoptria conchella was first described by Denis & Schiffermüller in 1775. This moth species has a wingspan of 24–30 mm. It is quite similar in appearance to Catoptria pinella, but can be distinguished by the paler rear portion of its forewing, and by the absence of a subterminal line. This species is distributed across Europe, including in Germany, the Baltic region, Austria, France, Switzerland, Italy, Romania, Slovenia, Poland, and Russia. Its habitat includes alpine meadows at elevations up to 2200 m, and it occurs primarily in open, grassy areas.
