About Catharanthus ovalis Markgr.

Catharanthus ovalis Markgr. is a flowering plant species belonging to the dogbane family, Apocynaceae. It is endemic to Madagascar, where it grows in the southern areas of the Central Plateau and the southwestern region of the island. This species was first formally published as a distinct species in 1970. While several subspecies or varieties of C. ovalis have been proposed by botanists, none of these additional taxa are currently recognized. C. ovalis has hairless (glabrous) stems and naturally oval-shaped leaves. Its leaves are sessile, meaning their petiole is less than 1 mm long. The corolla of its flower has a white or yellow central eye, and pink lobes.
