About Catacroptera cloanthe (Cramer, 1782)
Catacroptera is a monotypic butterfly genus belonging to the subfamily Nymphalinae of the family Nymphalidae. It occurs in sub-Saharan Africa. Its natural habitat includes grassland and savanna. Adult individuals of this genus are active year-round, though their flight period only runs from September to April in cooler regions. Larvae of the single species in this genus, Catacroptera cloanthe, feed on Justicia protracta, Barleria stuhlmanni, Ruellia cordata, Asystasia gangetica, Barleria opaca, Ruellia togoensis, Chaetacanthus setiger, and species from the Asclepias and Phaulopsis genera.
