About Carrhotus coronatus (Simon, 1885)

Carrhotus coronatus is a species of jumping spider belonging to the family Salticidae. It was first described by Eugène Simon in 1885, under the original name Ergane coronata. This species is distributed across Southeast Asia, with a range that extends from China and Vietnam to Java, Indonesia. Its specific epithet coronatus is Latin for "crowned", a reference to the crown-shaped white markings on the dark cephalothorax of male individuals. Confirmed records of C. coronatus come from the Southeast Asian countries of China, Vietnam, and Indonesia (specifically the island of Java), and the species is primarily found in the Malay Archipelago region.
