About Carphochaete bigelovii A.Gray

Carphochaete bigelovii, commonly called Bigelow's bristlehead, is a species of North American flowering plant in the family Asteraceae. This species is native to northern Mexico, where it grows in Coahuila, Chihuahua, Durango, and Sonora, as well as the southwestern United States in Arizona, New Mexico, and western Texas. It is a shrub that can reach up to 300 cm, or 10 feet, in height. Its flower heads are typically produced one or two per branch. These heads contain only disc florets, with no ray florets present. The florets are generally purple, with white lobes along their edges.
