About Carpatolechia alburnella (Zeller, 1839)

Carpatolechia alburnella, commonly known as the suffused groundling, is a moth species belonging to the family Gelechiidae. This species is distributed across most of Europe, excluding Ireland and the Balkan Peninsula, and extends east to Siberia. It inhabits woodland and heathland environments. The wingspan of adult Carpatolechia alburnella ranges from 13 to 16 mm. Adult moths are recorded in flight between June and August. The larvae of this species feed on plants of the Betula genus, and they live between spun or folded leaves of their host plant. Carpatolechia alburnella overwinters in the egg stage.
