The silky short-tailed bat, scientifically known as Carollia brevicaudum, is a bat species that occurs in Bolivia, Brazil, Colombia, Ecuador, French Guiana, Guyana, Panama, Peru, Suriname, Mexico, and Venezuela. Its diet is primarily made up of fruits. It opportunistically gleans leaves to consume insects, and supplements its diet with nectar during the dry season. It is one of the most important seed dispersers for pipers and small fruiting plants in the regions where it lives.
