Carmenta pyralidiformis, commonly known as the boneset borer, is a moth species that belongs to the family Sesiidae. This species was first described by Francis Walker in 1856. It is found in the United States, with confirmed records from the states of Arkansas, Illinois, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Missouri, New Jersey, Ohio, and Virginia. The adult moth has a wingspan of approximately 21 millimeters. The larvae of Carmenta pyralidiformis feed on the roots of bonesets and thoroughworts, which are members of the genus Eupatorium.
