About Carex secalina Willd. ex Wahlenb.
Carex secalina, commonly known as the rye sedge, is a species of flowering plant in the sedge family Cyperaceae. This species is native to central and eastern Europe, the Caucasus, Iran, Kazakhstan, and extending into Siberia. It has also been introduced to the Russian Far East, Belgium, and New York State. It typically grows in saline wet meadows, which means it is already pre-adapted to grow in ditches alongside roads that receive heavy winter salting.
