Carex pseudocyperus L. is a species of flowering plant in the sedge family. It has two common names: cyperus sedge and hop sedge. This species grows in marshes, swamps, and along the margins of ponds, rivers, and canals. Its stems can reach up to 90 centimetres (35 inches) in length. Each plant produces one male spike, and 3 to 5 pendulous female spikes. Its bright yellow-green leaves can grow up to 1.2 metres (3 feet 11 inches) long.
