Carex panicea, commonly called carnation sedge, is a plant species that belongs to the sedge family Cyperaceae. It is also classified as a grass-like sedge, and its native range includes Northern and Western Europe, as well as north-eastern North America. This species produces fruits that measure 3–4 millimetres (0.12–0.16 inches) in length, with an egg shape and spiked form. The leaves of both male and female plants are pale blue on both their upper and lower sides.
