About Carex otrubae Podp.

Carex otrubae Podp. grows 40–70 centimetres (16–28 in) tall, and produces linear leaves that are 3–7 millimetres (0.12–0.28 in) wide. Both the inflorescence and its lanceolate structures measure 5 centimetres (2.0 in) long. The species' utricles are colored either pale green or orange-brown. Female specimens have ovate, pale orange-brown glumes that are 3 millimetres (0.12 in) in length. This species is distributed across Europe, Central Asia, West Siberia, and Xinjiang, China. It grows best in wetlands on heavy soils, particularly in lowland areas. It can be found near lakes, rivers and reservoirs, as well as in coastal regions.
