About Carex hoodii Boott

Carex hoodii Boott grows in clumps of very thin stems that reach up to approximately 80 centimeters tall. Its leaves are narrow, and have a tight, green sheath at their base. The inflorescence forms a dense cluster of spikelets that measures 1 to 2 centimeters long. The flowers bear reddish scales that have light-colored edges. The fruit is covered by a perigynium that is brown in the center and green along the edges, and it may have a notched tip.
