About Carex heteroneura S.Watson
This plant, the sedge Carex heteroneura, grows in clumped stems that reach up to one meter (three feet) tall, though they are often much shorter. The species is variable in overall appearance, including in the characteristics used to identify it, such as the flower scales and the perigynia that cover its fruits. Generally, its flower spikes are oblong or cylindrical, and are densely packed with bicolored spikelets. Its perigynium is greenish or purplish, and ends in a short, rounded tip.
