About Carex folliculata L.

Carex folliculata, commonly called the northern long sedge, is a species of flowering plant that belongs to the family Cyperaceae. It is native to eastern Canada, the territory of Saint Pierre and Miquelon, and the eastern United States; in the southeastern portion of its U.S. range, it is only found in the Appalachian Mountains. This is a clumping perennial plant that can grow up to 150 cm (5 ft) tall, though most individuals are shorter. It produces broad, yellowish-green leaves. An obligate wetland species, it grows in a wide variety of wet habitats, ranging from sea level up to an elevation of 1,800 m (5,900 ft). It can tolerate growing conditions that are acidic, neutral, or basic.
